Take an assessment to determine your church's "Commitment Quotient" for a Capital Stewardship Campaign. We suggest that the pastors fill out surveys and average the scores and that active laypersons fill out surveys and average the scores. Compare the "gap" between the pastors and laity. Then lump all the surveys together and get one total average.

Don't hesitate to call Dr. Lomax for a free consultation about the results at 916-783-0952. Or use our "Contact Us" page on this web site.

the most money possible through a balanced, scriptural program using trained professionals to work with the church's leadership team.

What is capital stewardship? The short answer is that the term refers to matters related to a church raising money to construct or remodel a building. Yet the term is broader than this as well. Money raised from capital stewardship campaigns can be used for retiring debt, starting a Christian School or Preschool, building a retirement home, and purchasing land for a retreat center or campground.

First, the word stewardship refers to the office of one who manages another's property, finances, or other affairs. From a Christian theological point of view, it refers to the fact that no man owns anything, not even his own life. It all belongs to God and is on loan to people and we each will give an accounting to God for how we use His property, His finances and how we conduct His affairs.

This, then extends to the local congregation. It, too, is a steward of that which belongs to God.

The word capital means the real property assets of a church as well as the other wealth it possesses in the form of material goods or money.

Capital Stewardship is a term for how a church manages its material wealth and how it increases its property and holdings for the use in the Kingdom of God. The focus is not on cash flow and operating costs, but upon the long term wealth of the congregation and its investments in property and equities.

What exactly does CIM and its ministry partner do in this area? We help a church make good decisions about its capital assets and their use. This includes deciding whether a new building is the best and highest use of resources and, if so, what kind of building. It also includes coaching a church in the effort to raise large amounts of money. This entails providing written materials and training for doing a fund raising campaign.

Call today and harness the synergy of these two Christian ministries to guide your church through the important decisions of Capital Stewardship.
